Our energy efficiency efforts are paying off! We just learned we have earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR certification, racking up the highest score yet for energy efficiency and strict performance levels set by the EPA!
This is the sixth year we have received the award and our 90 score means our Winooski headquarters scores in the top 10 percent of all similar buildings in the program across the country. We’re saving money, protecting the environment and setting a standard for Vermont commercial buildings.
Only nine commercial sites in Vermont qualified for the ENERGY STAR certification this year, according to the EPA.
Commercial buildings that earn EPA’s ENERGY STAR certification use an average of 35 percent less energy than typical buildings and also release 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Improving the energy efficiency of our nation’s buildings is critical to protecting our environment, which is why the EPA urges businesses to get certified. “From the boiler room to the board room, organizations are leading the way by making their buildings more efficient and earning EPA’s ENERGY STAR certification,” EPA administrators said.
